MUMBAI: A couple married for almost a decade and intending to invoke legal provisions for surrogacy has approached Bombay high court to challenge a blanket ban on egg donors and for permission to use donor gametes.
The HC on Monday issued notice to the Central government, State and the National and State Assisted Reproductive Technology and Surrogacy Boards on a petition filed by the Navi Mumbai couple facing a legal bump on their path to parenthood.
Their counsel, Tejesh Dande, submitted that a notification issued on March 6 by the Union ministry of health and family welfare disallows donor gametes for couples intending to undergo surrogacy
